How the days are counted

By default, the calculator skips Saturdays, Sundays and NSW public holidays. Local holidays and other exclusions apply only when you select them.

Working days by year

These are full-year totals for a Monday to Friday working week, excluding New South Wales public holidays. They don’t include local holidays or extra exclusions, and won’t change when you edit the calculator.

Holiday rules

Local holidays and dates to check

  1. Local public holidays and Local Event Days

Local public holidays apply only in the places and during the hours listed in the government notice. Local Event Days are not public holidays for work purposes. If a local public holiday applies to you, choose the matching area and check that the calculator covers the year you need.

  2. The August bank holiday

The first Monday in August is a bank holiday, not a public holiday for everyone in NSW. With the standard NSW settings, the calculator counts it as a working day. Check whether the rules for your calculation require you to exclude it.

  3. Extra Anzac Day holidays

NSW has extra Anzac Day public holidays on Monday 27 April 2026 and Monday 26 April 2027. Check the holiday dates for the year you need: a weekend Anzac Day does not always mean an extra weekday holiday.
